The Accidental Invention That Changed Everything
Bubble gum was born from a beautiful mistake in 1928 when 23-year-old Walter Diemer was experimenting with chewing gum recipes at the Fleer Chewing Gum Company. His batch turned out less sticky and more stretchy than regular gum - perfect for blowing bubbles! He colored it pink simply because that was the only food coloring he had on hand.
